Empowering the next generation of Allergy Allies

Inspired by Ella’s powerful story of how a friend helped to save her life during an anaphylactic reaction, Allergy UK has been working in collaboration with Girlguiding London and Southeast England to launch the Allergy Aware badge.

Starting today, the badge pack is available for leaders in the London and Southeast England region to access.  With the potential to reach 44,000 Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, and Rangers, the badge brings the opportunity for there to be many more young people who to be allergy aware and allergy allies in future.

The Allergy Aware badge pack is filled with fun and engaging activities, such as storytelling, games, film making and cooking challenges, all of which are tailored for all age groups, from Rainbows to Rangers. These activities have been designed to raise awareness of what it’s like to live with allergies, how to spot signs and symptoms and what to do in an emergency.

Simone Miles, CEO at Allergy UK

Allergy UK is proud to be working with Girl Guides to create a new generation of allergy allies. The Allergy Aware badge is more than just an award; it’s a lifeline for future children affected by allergies. With allergies on the rise, it has never been more crucial for everyone to understand the impact of living with allergies and know how to respond in an emergency. Through this badge, we are giving more young people the chance to learn these vital skills.

The more leaders who adopt the badge pack from today onwards, the closer we will be in helping to create a safer, more inclusive world for the next generation of those affected by allergies.

How you can support the rollout of the Allergy Aware Badge Pack

If you have a child who is part of the Girlguiding London and Southeast region and would like to see this rolled out more widely, why don’t you get in touch with the leader and encourage them to consider activities from the Allergy Aware pack?

As part of the program, Girl Guides will also be invited to fundraise for Allergy UK. This aspect of our partnership not only supports our vital work but also empowers young people to take action in their communities.
